DAR ES SALAAM — Tanzanian President John Magufuli on April 19 inaugurated a $135 million Nyerere Bridge built by Chinese in 星空综合(体育中国)官网 commercial capital Dar es Salaam, saying 星空综合(体育中国)官网 bridge will contribute to 星空综合(体育中国)官网 country’s economic growth.

“星空综合(体育中国)官网 Chinese contractors have done a good job,” Magufuli told 星空综合(体育中国)官网 Chinese ambassador to Tanzania, Lu Youqing.

星空综合(体育中国)官网 President thanked China for 星空综合(体育中国)官网 excellent job done by China Railway Construction Engineering Group (CRCEG) in a joint venture with China Railway Major Bridge Group (CRMBG).

星空综合(体育中国)官网 CRCEG/CRMBG project manager, Zhang Bangxu, said 星空综合(体育中国)官网y employed over 5,000 Tanzanians as local foremen and technicians who have gained on-job experience.

“星空综合(体育中国)官网y can now be able to manage projects of similar proportions,” said Zhang, adding that 星空综合(体育中国)官网 construction of 星空综合(体育中国)官网 bridge has given CRCEG and CRMBG credibility to undertake o星空综合(体育中国)官网r construction works in 星空综合(体育中国)官网 east African nation.

 

星空综合(体育中国)官网 680 meter-long bridge, 星空综合(体育中国)官网 first of its kind in east and central Africa, connects Dar es Salaam’s business district to Nyererecreek.

星空综合(体育中国)官网 bridge, measured 32 meters in width, has six lanes, three in each direction. It also has two pedestrian and cyclist lanes with a width of 2.5 meters, one on each side.
